Legato 7.6.1 query

Hello,

I have a Linux client that I'm trying to backup on our Solaris7.6.1 Legato server but it keeps on failing with the below error:-


devserver:All 3 retries attempted
devserver:All savefs: savefs: RPC error: Program not registered
devserver:All savefs: Cannot access nsr server `devserver'
devserver:All savefs devserver: failed.
devserver:All Diagnostic: Reverse DNS lookup failed for address 10.230.12.107

The UP address that it's failing on is on a second interface on this server, how can I get networker to ignore this so that I can get the backup of devserver to work?

After solving the name resolution problems, make sure that on the client
- /nsr/res/servers lists all nodes/interfaces the client has to listen to
- if you made changes, restart the NW client deamon

Hello,

the DNS is setup fine for devserver, I'm able to run an nslookup to it and reverse lookup from the Legato server and it's fine. The IP address 10.230.12.107 is pingable and does not need to have a backup done of it. Is there a way I can somehow exclude this IP address so that I do not get the above problem?

I don't think so as NW uses the gethostbyname function. Just make sure that the other address is not also mentioned, for example by a forgotten entry in a hosts file. Such happened to us a while ago.
Make sure to look at all hosts (client, storage node and server).

You can try 2 things :
1. edit the host file of your backupserver and enter both ip adresses of your client with the same name I think devserver in your case.

2. you can set up a host route on devserver to the backupserverm using only the interface you it to use.
E.g. if you want to use the ip address 192.168.1.100 on eth0 and your backupserve has the ip 192.168.1.1 you can use :
route add -host 192.168.100.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 gw 192.168.1.100 eth0.

The syntax may vary with different linux distributions and releases.
You can use man route to have a look at the syntax.
