Anyone know how to convert a legal sized Word doc into a legal sized PDF? Everytime I try, the PDF ends up being a letter sized doc. I searched the arvhies, and it seems Acrobat cannot covert into legal sized. Seems like a pretty big weakness of Adobe...I'm sure there is some reasoning behind it. Anyone know? Thanks

What version of Acrobat are you using? I am using 6

I am doing to following and it seems just fine in legal size:

Create document in Word 2003
Set paper size to 'Legal' in Word
Select 'Print' from the 'File' menu in Word
Use the 'Printer Name' dropdown to select 'Acrobat PDF'
PDF is created in legal size

I tried to detail the steps because there may be differences in version, or the method that you are using to create the PDF (i.e. using the 'Create PDF' macro from word)

If you are still having problems could you supply some more detail on which versions of programs you are using?

The default paper size for Distiller/PDF Writer which converts the Word doc to PDF must be for letter size. You will need to change the properties for paper size in Distiller. If you are creating the PDF in a 2-step process i.e. Word->postscript (PRN) file by printing to Distiller, then opening the PRN in Distiller and creating the PDF, then you can change the Distiller properties when you open it. If you are doing this in one step (such as Save/Print/Export to PDF) then you can change the paper size in Distiller by going to Start>Settings>Printers and right clicking on Distiller to get to the Properties. Under the Paper tab is where you can change paper size. I am not sure if legal is one of the defualts, but you can always choose Custom and enter the paper size there. Keep in mind this setting will hold until you go in and change it again - otherwise all subsequent docs will be printed to legal size.
