I like to thanks everyones for helping

I have an issue where we are upgrading our CUCM 4.2.3 to CUCM 6.1 and our voicemail system is Lyrix server which connects via a MGCP router using 2 T1 connects and we pass the SMDI data through the serial port on our 4.2 Publisher. So, here is our issue. The new server does not was a serial port the on the box so we need a Cisco certified USB-Serial-ca adapter, but no vendor has these devices and will take 4 to 6 week to order directly from Cisco. So, does anyone know if there is way to use a standard Usb to serial (DB9) connector? and if so what needs to be done in order to pass the SMDI data between Publisher and Voicemail server.

Thanks

The difference between the cisco certified and any other adapter is that cisco will support you in case you have issues or need configuration assistance.
Otherwise it should not matter what USB adapter you use as long as it is a decent product (not off the .99$ bin at radio shack).
That said you can try and make one work while you are waiting for the cisco to come in, or postpone the upgrade for another six weeks until you get the correct adapter.

Unfortunately I have not installed this on a new server using this adaptor so I can't help you much there with advice or gotchas.
BTW is this an actual cisco part number then? Or is it just a third party product that cisco simply has tested and supports?
