We are having some freeze/lockup problems with some Windows 98 machines and the SMS 2003 Legacy Client.
We've received the following reports from users:
"We have had a couple of complaints this morning about computers that have been booted up for around 5 to 10 minutes and the monitor going to either a black screen or the monitor goes black and all the employee can do is move the mouse."
and
"I logged into the network and opened outlook. I opened "My Computer" and the files showed. I tried to go into one of the files, but the hour glass stayed up. I opened windows explore and was able to go into files, but still could not get into "My Computer". Task manager showed it as not responding. I went back to Windows explorer, then the screen went black. after about 1-2 minutes, a blue screen came up and said the system was busy.
I brought the computer up again and verified the IP address. The computer screen went black again after about 2 minutes."
The only common thing we've found so far is that the PCs are Micron's (though at least two different models) and they are using a particular SMC network card (still investigating).
Searching through some Web sites and Microsoft's KB hasn't turned up anything.
Any ideas?
