I have 2 PC's running XP Pro connected to a wired SMC router. On PC #1, when I look in Explorer inside of "My Newtork Places" there is a directory called ftp://goodstuff.myftp.org". When I double click on it it takes 15 sec open up, than there are 20 sub-folders porn, movies etc.... Right click on properties the whole thing shows only 10Kb. If I try to delete it says cannot remove. The weird thing was 1 hour later, it was still there I clicked delete and it was removed???

What is going on? Did a guy use my cable modem connection for his convenience?? HOw do I beef up network security.I have the latest SMC wireless router, but wireless caused so many problems I ran CAT5 for both PC's.

any suggestions would be appreciated,
Thanks Vince

First, lets remove the directory. Use the freeware tool Delete FXP:
Second, the issue is not wired vs. wireless, you need some sort of firewall. Because yes, " Did a guy use my cable modem connection for his convenience??"
Well, yes.

Use Google to search for freeware versions of Tiny, Kerio, Sygate, Black ICE, or Zone Alarm.

Then follow every step in faq608-4650

Bcastner,
Thanks for the advice. I will try what you said and report back...
