leave email on server as "new"

I know that Outlook Express will allow me to download mail to my desktop and leave a copy on my ISP (Comcast) server. However this marks the mail as read on the comcast server and inbox counter goes down to 0. I'd like to leave everything intact on the server and just preview it remotely on my laptop. Is there another client that will do this or another method that will work ?

I do have webmail at comcast. I'm looking for a way to copy email to my laptop and leave it on the server so that if I look at it on the server it is still new.

Maybe this can't be done though ?
