Leased Line & ISDN Connection?

Hi

If I setup a G4 Powermac with a public ip address bound to the Ethernet card operating on a small LAN with a leased line available for Internet access, can I also use a ISDN TA for file transfer, or would I have to disable the LAN connection before establishing the call?

What are the issues with a setup like this?

Is the ISDN connecting to an ISP or to join two LANS together?

It will be used to connect to a print house for file transfer - my understanding is that software will be running on the receiving end for this purpose and the call will essentially establish a point-to-point link between the two computers, I would assume that the receiving end takes care of authentication.

Hi,

In that case and assuming that the remote end is a router of some type then the answer is just to add the ISDN router on your LAN and set up a static route to the receiving router. You will need the address of the system you are going to connect to or its URL.

Your routing table should be set up to reflect this, probably in your leased line router which is likely to be some form of cisco device? If this is provided by your network provider you may have to ask them to do this.

You could also add the route to the ISDN router and trust that the routing tables are automatically updated.

If the remote device is a URL then you need to update your DNS records locally.
