Hello,

Recently I have found a need to use alot of Javascript. Usually I can find a code for my requirements by searching Google, however I have begun to gain a small understanding of the code and I have started to write my own Javascript. I have found Javascript extremely useful in many circumstances and I now want to learn it to its full extent. I usually buy Visual Quickstart guides but they often don't cover all of the important topics. Can someone advice me on what book I should buy in order to cover most Javascript topics, baring in mind that I am just a beginner. Or is there a website that is very helpful?

Thanks alot,

Chris

I found the O'Reilly DHTML book very helpful for learning JS, as it goes into both HTML & JavaScript, rather than just JS alone (which is probably what you'll be using, no doubt).

However... it may not be right for you, so my advice it to head along to a bookshop, flick through it, and see if you think it's at your level,. If so, buy it.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Thanks Billy,

I have found the O-reilly books very useful in the past, usually once I have read a more beginner book. So ill do that, go down to the shop and have a look through. Thanks alot

Try Sitepoint ( as well. I've not seen the contents of their JS book but I have several on other topics (PHP, CSS & XML) and they are very good quality.
