Learning how to develop customisable applications

I am looking for good tutorials on how to develop php applications that are totally customisable and configurable by the customers.

By customisation I mean: change the layout & design of the site, change the messages displayed to the users...etc

Basically, I want to develop a web application and then use that application for my different clients. Every clients should be able to customise my pplication to their needs.

Where can I start. Would be grateful if you could help.

I suppose a combination of custom CSS style sheets, along with some config files is a good place to start.


Use CSS style sheets to alter layout, And create config files that can be altered, and which are accessed by your application to retrieve displayable text, and contents.


Since this is you application, you alone know what it needs to display, and how it needs to be displayed.
