hi,

I am a beginner for using Microsoft Access databse which we have for one of our product. The qurying on Access database is quite different than any other traditional databases like SQL ,Sybase, Netizza etc.
Sometimes i need to do some kind of testing on Access databse and i face lot of difficulty in doing that as query style and formats are different.
If anybody have any idea, how we can learn querying access database easily, any material or any online help tools are available for this....if anybody helps me with this, it would be of great help...

Thanks,
VJ

Exact steps depend which version of Access you are using, but in the query designer, use the option to view SQL. This is likely to look more familiar to you than the graphical query designer screen.
I should say that the SQL produced by designer is not particularly good quality and often major performance gains can be made by tweaking the SQL code.

Thanks for the reply.
I use Microsoft Office Access 2007 DB.
Yes, i am able to view it as SQL. I dont have any problem in viewing it in SQL mode. I face difficulty when i try to little complex queries on this.
If you know any links which can help us in learning how to query access databse, that will basically help us to test the databse with an ease.

Thanks,
VJ

What does this mean?

Unless somthing has changed when i wasn't looking, a reasonably thorough knowledge of SQL should be sufficient.

If you post some specific problem/question, someone may have a suggestion.

Access doesn't have things like stored procedures or triggers that you would find in proper client/server database products, but it does allow you to call VBA functions, both those that are built into Access and those that are developed in house.

If possible I would advise against using this feature, since it drastically slows down query execution, but sometimes it cannot be avoided.
