Learn fortran

Need some information before anyone can advise you
1) Which version? There is
Fortran IV - not very common nowadays
Fortran 77 - still quite common
Fortran 90
Fortran 95
Fortran 2003 - no compilers available yet
2) Do you have a compiler? If so, which one (eg for F77, there is GNU, Watcom, Microsoft, Salford, Lahey)
3) Have you programmed before i.e. have you done something like basic or C?
Best can be different for different people. What works for one persone may not work for someone else. Why not just google for Fortran Tutorial and see what comes up. There aren't that many books nowadays. When you are up to speed get the book as a reference for obscure keywords that hardly anyone explains like save, operator and forall.
