Hi All,

Im working on a neax early next week which i have not done for some time.

I know you need a lead in order to connnect to the system for programming. Is this lead purchaseable? and if so, from where?

Many Thanks in advance friends.

That entire system can be programmed through a phone. Obtain a copy of the command and feature programming manuals. Try The off line procedure is from any phone in the idle condition (on hook not in use) is:
Press TRF + CNF + * + TRF + CNF + #, then press redial.
The MAT program can be purchased from an authorized NEC dealer.

The programming is virtually the same. There are some commands that were expanded in the later systems.
EX: 8A405 VS> 8A4005.

But we are discussing the connection lead not the actual programming!

Its a NEAX 2000 IPS.

Thanks for all your advice - however, ozzie is correct.
I dont actually want to programme through the phone. I have the MAT software and want to connect to the system with the lead.
However, i dont have one - or know what its 'name' is thus getting very poor results from dealers when googleing 'nec neax lead'

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok there are two ways round this.

First to find out what lead you need we need to know if it is an IVS or later. simple check is to log in from a d-term as belvedere suggests and go to command 10 to see if len numbers are 4 digit or 3 digit. If they are 3 digit then you nees a special lead (kind of a square multiple pin connector that plugs into the CPU). If 4 digit then it is a DB25 connector and as I have made up a custom lead, I can't remember whether it is a straight RS232 lead or a null modem lead. Someone will probably post which, but if not simply buy a straight RS232 lead and if it doesn't work buy a null modem adaptor.

However if all this is too hard and your PC has a built in modem, check out command 408 or 4008 (which in it's self will give away the system type), find out what the built in modem extension number is and use an analogue extension to dial it internally from your PC modem. That way you don't need a lead!
