LDM automatic primary identifer

hi

im new to powerdesigner and im trying to create a LDM. i create a new entity and add an attribute and make that attribute the check the "primary" flag. however, PD creates its own its own identifer "identifier_1". when i look in the properties sheet for the entity, it has "identifier_1" but not my attribute.

whats going on?

please help, this is driving me nuts, i have been through the entire PD manual and looked in every option and property sheet i can find!
