Hi all, Sorry if this has been posted before but I did try and search for an answer to my question!

We have an LDK-20 phone system that intermittently has issues. When we come into the office in the morning we regularly sit there thinking 'The phones are very quiet this morning!' I then go to call the office using my mobile and all I get is a beeping line. I then switch off the LDK-20 for a minute or so then switch back on, and all is working fine.
It has done it for a few years now but it is getting rather intolerable now! Has anyone got any idea of what could be causing this problem? The system uses a netgear adsl modem (which we have changed to see if that fixes the problem) that connects to a dedicated adsl line. The SIP etc. is provided by BT.

I did think about doing a software update on the box to see if anything changed, but I could not find the relevant PC ADMIN software for our firmware version.
Our version is UK66P-C.7Ee MAR/08

If anyone can help that would be great.

Thanks

This is the information we have from BT:

CLI
440559 – Single Analogue Line – Red Care

656097 – Single Analogue Line – Fax

657875 – Single Analogue Line – Gamma Broadband

657875 – Business Broadband up to 8mb 50:1

800057 – IPDC (SIP) Channel Rental

Ok, brilliant.

So the admin program for me to download would be: LDK PC Admin (3.9Dc)

And I can then update the LDK-20 software to GS66P-C9Ec yes?

What is the difference between the GS66P and UK66P in the firmware name?

You should let a skilled LG engineer do this. If it fails, there is no guarantee.
If your ipLDK-20 has some issue, then you should begin checking if the grounding is OK and it has ferrite cores rolled around the PSTN and power supply lines.

What is the difference between the GS66P and UK66P in the firmware name? GS is the the genral release and UK is the data base name.
You should take a backup before "anything".

Hi,

Reading the decsription it sounds like you are using Sip so I assume you have a Voib module on top of the 20. Make sure that Sip Alg is disabled in the router. This is 'supposed' to help with sip but actually has the oposite effect. Also when you can't call in, can you make calls out? Does this fix the incoming problem? It may also be that the registration timer in the system may be set too long so BT think the system has disapeared assuming it is using registration not peering.

It can't hurt to get the software upgraded on both the system and Voim module. The latest s/w I know of is C.9 Jb (Mar 13).

Yes we do have a VOIM on the ldk-20. I do not think that SIP ALG is switched on in the netgear modem/router
We have now removed our dedicated line and will be using 1 line for our broadband and sip services. We have configured our sonicwall firewall on port X4 with the LDK-20 so we will continue to monitor the uptime of the ldk-20. If it still has issues I think we will look at replacing the ldk-20

I have not been into PC ADMIN yet. I did try a few days ago very quickly, but the software could not see the ldk-20

We have to ethernet cables coming from the ldk-20. One goes into the VOIM and one into the ldk-20. The one that goes into the LDK-20 is always in sleep mode (port number on router goes orange) Which one needs to be used to update the ldk-20

Thanks

Hi,

The one into the system itself.

If the software is a clean install then you need to add a site to it to connect.

Fill in the relevant details and right click and connect lan. The default ip is 192.168.1.1

If PC ADMIN can't see the LDK-20 you might want to check the programming from the Attendant Handset for IP Settings.

Find the attendant handset (Station 10 or 100) [Pressing 9 or 0 depending on programming, will ring the attendant]
Press TRANS / PGM * #
If asking for Admin Password, enter password or enter 147* if you don't know it
Press TRANS / PGM
Enter PGM Number 108 for IP Settings.
Press Flex Key 2 to assign the IP Address of LDK system, Flex 4 for the Gateway (Router) Address. Check Subnet Mask is OK on Flex 5.

Press HOLD / SAVE after changing settings in each Flex Key!
You'll need to reset the system if you change anything in PGM 108.
Reset system by going to PGM 450, Flex 15 "INITIALIZATION _ SYSTEM RESET", and Press HOLD / SAVE to restart the system.

If you are still not having any luck connecting, check PGM 175 "PRINT PORT SELECTION" Flex 9 - PC ADM and dial 07 for NET_PCADM

If you have password on the ADMIN programming, you will need to enter it when you are connecting to PC ADMIN. If you don't know it - look in PGM 162 and it will tell you. Press SPEED to delete if you don't need it.

I have managed to flash the newer firmware to the ldk-20 via PC Admin - Thanks 2311angel!

How do I update the VOIM? Or has it updated automatically?

When I browse to the ip of the VOIM, it asks for a password but all of my passwords do not work.

Scrap that last post, turns out no password was needed [hammer]

The splash screen says version GS66H-2.1Ca is present. Looking back on the website would Firmware ipLDK-50/100 VOIBE (2.1Dc) [1,081 KB] work on my system?

I done a bit of google-ing and noticed that I have a VOIBE because I use SIP trunking? Can anyone confirm this before I flash this firmware?

Thanks again.

Glad you were able to flash the firmware. I hope you enjoy the later version of it :)

If you are using the VOIM with SIP Trunks, it sounds like the VOIBE module, but I am not sure on that, as I do not use a VOIM / VOIBE module. I use Analog Telephone Adapters (ATAs) on my system giving me 4 lines of VoIP via LCO 1-4
I am also not sure how to flash the firmware of the VOIBE module so I would hold off flashing until you are 100% you need to do that.

Sorry I can't be of much more help here. Post back if you need help with anything else and I'll see what I can do to help [smile]

Hi,

The module is called a voib for the 20. To confirm, in pc-admin, click on configuration and in slot 9 will be voib.
To upgrade the software, browse to voib and there is an option to upgrade. Select the new file and follow the prompts.

Thanks cody64, we do have a voib.

Can you or anyone confirm that the firmware I posted above is correct?
I know it is for an IPLDK-50/100 VOIB but I did read somewhere that the actual VOIB module is the same across the board?

Also, an update on the LDK-20, touch wood, since the upgrade we have not had any problems as of yet
The only strange thing it does now, since the firmware update, when you pick a handset up, the dial tone is a bit broken up for the first 3 seconds, then settles to a constant tone. Anyone know why it has started to do this?

Do you refer to the ICM dial tone or a different dial tone for your lines out ?

I would be checking PGM 160 - F5 "ICM Continous Dial Tone" is set to ON. I don't know if that helps.
The ICM dialtone stutters if there is a listed message (Call Back light will light or flash), DND is set, or the Station is forwarding calls.

Hope this helps :)

Its the dial tone as soon as you pick the handset up. Before we press 9 for an outside line.
Checked PGM 160 and it is set to continuous mode.
No lights flash or light up while it is stuttering

Thanks

Dial TRANS / PGM 64 and listen to the Station Status ? May give you a clue as to what's going on.
Need VMIB access. If you don't have a VMIB, you can't do this. If it says Access Deny, allow VMIB access to stations in PGM 113.

We don't have a VMIB! It was a feature that we were looking at adding actually.

Well we have had BT in over the weekend, and I think we are going to switch back to ISDN. Our broadband around our area is shockingly unreliable and slow, so SIP does not really work to well. Our call volume is very very low also. Never really see 3 phone calls going on at the same time, so a single ISDN2 line should do us fine. Included in the quote we are waiting for will be a new phone system also, so depending on how much it costs, we may be doing away with the LDK-20.

Does anyone have any experience with the LDK-20 and ISDN? Such as reliability etc?
In regards to the VMIB add on module, can it support 6 numerous accounts greetings? Then you select which greeting you would like to use for that day/weekend?

Thanks
