I work for a small company looking after their network and have been having a problem on and off for the last year or so now. Each time we think it has been resolved but then it comes back. We are using Goldmine 6.5 sql running on a server and adaptive messaging and CTIserver software on a seperate server, both running 2000 server. The problem we have is with the PC's freezing for typicaly 5 seconds, but can be up to 5 minutes. One will freeze, usually when completeing an activity, then another, then another, then they will all start working again.

Any suggestions or do you need more info?

I noticed today that we have 2 6Gb .LDF files in the data sql folder, should they be this big? If they are log files could that be whats causeing the problem?

Any help would be much apreciated.

The LDF file is the transaction log in SQL server. If yours is 2.6 GB, something is wrong. It sounds like you haven't got a database backup plan in place.

On the performance stuff, it could be a few different things, but it is most likely a combination of a number of tuning settings in the BDE and SQL areas.

I'd suggest having someone take a closer look and tune things up. I am one of many who could perform this service... Of course, I'm the best... ;)
