Hi-
I'm curious about the lockfile that Access produces when more than one user is using a database. What does that lockfile contain--does it hold the data that the user is inputting, then update the database tables when the user exits? Or are tables instantly updated once a record is entered and the user has moved to a different record? The reason I ask is because the users get this error message:
"[Formname] has been changed since the last time you opened it, either by another user or because another instance of it was opened on your machine.
Do you want to replace the changes that you or another user made?
-To save your most recent changes and discard the other user's changes or your previous changes, click yes.
-To save this version of the object with another name, click no."
I've already read most of the threads related to this error message, and know I did a bad thing by changing/editing forms when users are currently using the database, but are we losing any data (I think this is what is causing the error message)? It doesn't look like it, and I've asked the users to check, but I just need some reassurance that the ldb file doesn't "hold" records until the user exits the database. Meaning when someone clicks "yes" in reply to the above error message, we're not losing someone else's dasta.
thanks!
