This is a workaround to the problem with Outlook not allowing a wildcard search against an LDAP server.
If you add an additional CommonName (CN) to each record in your LDAP database with a value of "*" (no quotes of course), then when the * is used in Outllok to search the Directory, all records will show up.
I have tested this in Outlook 2003/2007, Mozilla Thunderbird and RoundCube webmail. (Note: Thunderbird does not require the * to be added to each LDAP record, I tested against it to make sure the addition didn't break anything.)
