ldap server not operational

hi,
we just developed a c# .net app and have had it working on our test server and on the live server aswell, but now just about everyday we get an error saying the "server is not operational".
if I upload the same web.config to the live server without changing it at all, the app works again.
but i cant keep doing this obviously.
has anyone experienced anything like this?
