LDAP referral in Active Directory win2k3

We require to set up a referral with Active Directory on two Windows MC (Win 2k3).One mc is domain controller(test.com), while the other is made a subdomain(xyz.test.com) of the domain controller.How do i go abt this?Also pls help me in getting suitable documents/links related to this.
