LDAP Authenticatpion

Hello,

We have one LDAP server on which we have employees details. Like Emp. No, Location,mail -ID etc.
,we are planning to add username and passwd on it.


Following is the query.


Say i have one separate linux box and i want all the users of this Linux box,
to get authenticate thru this Ldap server.

a. When users gets authenticated, ? do i have to create home directories on this linux box.


b. Can sendmail be used to query the LDAP datbase and send mails.

A) Home directories will need to exist before the user logs in, or you will have problems.

Sendmail can use to query the LDAP database and send mails.

I wouldnt use LDAP for sendmail because if your LDAP server goes down the person sending the email from the outside will receive a message back stating user unknown.
