I've been working on justifying LDAP authentication over database and Windows authentication. Could somebody explain to me in a nutshell the advantage(s) of LDAP over Database or Windows Authentication.

Background:
Currently, we are using Windows authentication. However, we are implementing an ERP and someone brought the LDAP authentication because we have issues of Group Logins using Windows authentication.

Thanks!

>>>These authentication choices don't apply to VFP

But can be used for VFP application. Currently we use Windows username for users login into our application (pre-filled), but LDAP could also be used, as a matter fact the request was put in for our application to switch from Windows authentification to LPAD authentification.
