ldap authentication in BO 6.1

Here is my question. I found this article about BO 6.1 at

It mentions that LDAP suppost is available. Does that mean that if I work at a company using 5.1.9, for example, that we could use LDAP to validate a password in LDAP directory, vs using the BO security? In other words, can I use ldap authentication in BO 6.1 for user sign in security?
