I need to sync data from a custom DB with an Avaya phone system. The Avaya system software IP Office supports LDAP. I am trying to set up ApacheDS to link with the Avaya system. I can do this successfully if I use the Small Business Server Active Directory but have been advised against this.
I have set up ApacheDS and Appache Directory Studio and they are running OK. In the IP Office software I need to set up the LDAP link and it requests a username and password. However in Apache Directory Studio the connector authentication works with Distinguished Name e.g. uid=admin,ou=system. I have tried using the dn in the Avaya IP Office LDAP setup but it doesn't work. I have only a small amount of knowledge of LDAP servers so I am hoping that someone with more knowledge can help me and tell me how to set up ApacheDS so that it can be accessed using a username/password.
Thanks
John
