I need to back up the PBX database to the PCMCIA. It seems that we have 2 options Ld 43 BKO vs Ld 143 Upgrade.

Is there any different in what it will be back up?

I know that you have to be in slot b for Ld43 and slot a for Ld143.

I just did LD 43 - BKO, it seems that it back up ok. to PCMCIA in slot b.

Do i need to do the Ld143 - upgrade too?

Thank you

Can anyone confirm this?

with Ld43 BKO, i got
U folder
under this folder i have
account folder
DB folder.

Thanks

I would be interested in others' opinions on this as well. I have never performed a BKO. I have always used UPGRADE in LD 143 to archive the database to PCMCIA. I have used those archives to restore databases during failures as well as upgrades and it works great. I'm not sure how the BKO backup would work in a database restore.

a bko can be done from any tty port. a archive can only be done from tty 0 on the ssc card. you can only have 1 bko on a flash drive but multiple archives, I think 8 is the limit.
a vendor tech who has multiple customers would usually carry archives for his customers.

I think you should have 1 in each drive and do both. I wish that nortel had made the bko automatic on the option 11 like they did on the big switchs.

As a technician who does lots of upgrades, I prefer to put tty 0 on the switch room terminal, but if you want to do acrhives over dial up it has to be on the modem. The fact that you can do a bko from any port makes it more flexible.

A restore from a bko is done in ld 43 (res), a reboot is required aterwards. a archive is usually used for upgrades (going from one release to another). a bko is usually used for restored data after a corruption issue.

One is just as reliable as the other.

Wane47, thank you for the input.

Are we backing up the same data when we perform it using LD43 or LD143?

Or if the database is corrupted, can we restore fully the Option 11c from Ld43-BKO?

Thanks,
