these are COT trunks. I had the last 5 disco'd but have not disco'd them in the PBX. What do i need to do next? as long as i disco them from SBC i am not paying for them, correct? and also, can I tell remotely which of these are still "live"? i know for a fact the last five are not, but if i didn't know, can i remotely tell? thank you.

TN 003 0 00 00 MBER 1
TN 004 0 00 00 MBER 2
TN 003 0 00 01 MBER 3
TN 004 0 00 01 MBER 4
TN 003 0 00 02 MBER 5
TN 004 0 00 02 MBER 6
TN 003 0 00 03 MBER 7
TN 002 0 00 00 MBER 8
TN 002 0 00 01 MBER 9
TN 002 0 00 02 MBER 10
TN 002 0 00 03 MBER 11

If you have DISA set up in your system you can call in and do direct access on those lines and if you get dial tone back then they are probably still live.

i probably don't have DISA and know nothing about it so i'll skip it for now. thanks anyway.

COT trunks from the Network side are usually Identified by an actual Trunk 7 - digit # marked on the RJ21 from SBC. If you have "butt" set, you can access the trunk right there on the RJ and test for Dial Tone. That's one way to see if they are still "live". They should be ground start not loop.

Hope this helps.

If you dial in remotely, go to LD 36. Type command:
CALL 3 0 0 0
at DN? type in your cell phone number or an extension on your desk. When the phone rings, answer it. Your should hear a 1K hz (or so) test tone. Then type:
TRK 4 0 0 0 (or any of your available trunk TNs above).
If the trunk is good, you should hear dial tone on your ext or cell phone. To release the trunk with dial tone, type 1 (one) * and <cr>. When done testing, to release the call to you cell or ext, type in END at the dot prompt. This will disconnect your call.

If you are unsure of anything, check the NTPs. The commands are explained well enough.

i have used LD 36 but only to get the corresponding phone #s for my trunks. I'll give this a shot. but what about DID trunks? I had ten of them at a remote site and I put in a T1 and i cannot get the same answer twice from SBC whether the original ten DID trunks have been disco'd or not. I have ten DID TNs in my route but one person at SBC said i only have TWO DID trunks, another person said I still have all TEN DID trunks, and a third SBC person said i now have ZERO DID trunks. How can I check my DID trunk TNs to see if anything is on them? thanks DDionne, you are a huge help.

It's more difficult to identify which trunks are active and which are not. If you now have T1, are DID calls received through the DID? Is that how it was requested? Not knowing you exact setup, try this:
Log in remotely,
Dial a valid DID number, (be sure someone or something answers the call);
Use LD 80 to trace that ext number. The ORIG TN will identify which trunk the call came into the PBX on. The TERM Tn should be the TN of the DID # called.
(TRAC 0 xxxx -> traces xxxx, the DID # you are calling on Customer 0).

Try this several times to be sure which trunks or trunk group your DID calls use. Compare the ORIG TNs with the list from your DIDtrunk group. If all DID calls traced come in via the T1 then the only way to verify if analog DID trunks are still active is through the LEC or physically from site.

LD 36 has some very useful features if you understand how to use them. The LDIC and LMAX commands can be used to check for activity or traffic on routes and trunks and for troubleshooting. So you can do alot from a remote location by utilizing these tools along with the CALL and DISU / ENLU commands.

In your case for the DIDs, once you have a call established on one of them, ID the TN, then disable all of them in the route. Unbusy them one at-a-time and place test calls to a DID to see if you land the trunk or you get all-trunks-busy. This way by process of elimination you should be able to find all the working trunks unless the Telco has some on maintenance-busy in the CO switch. Once you have figured out the ones that are disconnected then OUT the TNs from the Route for those trunks.

Hope this helps!

Also, back to your COTs, it will be important to remove them in the PBX if they are used for outbound dialing, then it will cause problems when trying to make outbound calls. At the very least you should disable the affected ones...once you identiy them.
