I am in LD 143 on an Option 11c and want to do a SYSLOAD.
After I confirm yes it asks for a password. The PWD1 and PWD2 don't seem to do anything. What password is it looking for? Thanks in advance for any help.
Is it right to give out the "XSL" passcode on the forum?
People with a little knowledge can now do a lot of damage.
What do other users of this forum think?
I did think long & hard before giving this out. As this is the only the thing this password is used for & you have to have access to the switch 1st before using it I figured it was ok.
As for "doing alot of damage", well what are you going to do with this, reboot an Opt11, not really likely to come to to much harm there, unless your unlucky & at the end of the day, what people want to do with switches they're entrusted to look after is their business.
Correct wdhb. One has to have access and be logged in. That is sufficent to be able to wreak a little havoc if one were interested. If it were critical it would have been tied into pwd2. I think firebird is a little paranoid. I presume it is in a manual somewhere but unfortunately LD 143 doesn't point to it anywhere. Thanks again.
so!!!! sitting in New Zealand, how do I know that anyone I e-mail a password is anymore legit than those thta subscribe to a forumn. I agree with your 1st point which is don't provide information on passwords. This is the 1 password I have made an exception as you already have to have access to the switch to use it. A person who already has access can do far worse things than reboot, yes?
We both have our reasons on this issue. There is little point in going any further. On a different note, Are there many Meridians in New Zealand?.
I know that they exist in Australia, through a colleague of mine over there. Perhaps we can agree to disagree & discuss something different?.
But then again, they frown upon us sharing our emails here because spammers and headhunters will use them. I got a nasty gram from the CEO at Tek-Tips.
Agreed, as to being many Meridians here, I guess that's relative. Most large companies have Meridians, say 500 extns up, under that it's a mixture. Used to have a lot of Mitels but they have largely exited the market. As there's only 4 million people + 50 million sheep, (& the sheep don't make many calls), what would be considered a large system in NZ would be pretty puny by your standards. I work for a Health Board & have 2 x 81c, 1 x 61c, 1 x 51c, 9 x Opt11, 7 minis & 4 BCMs to look after.
I also enjoyed watching the Rugby world cup. I was wondering if in NZ, You had many Norstars for the smaller market?.
I understand that they were not sold in Australia, except as a version by Nortel called Commander. I believe that they were too expensive to sell.
Over here in the UK, The Norstar's / Meridian Option's range are being rebadged as BCM / Succession to hit the I.P market. I guess it's the same for most countries now!.
I'm sure you guys in the UK enjoyed the WRC which is more than can be said for NZ.
Yeah, the Norstars were never marketed here but we are getting the BCM's, had them for around 3-4 years & have to say they are maturing into an ok switch. Think they're a bit of dog though when it comes to printing out info
