I should know this but, does FAXA under cls on a 500 port for a fax machine even make a difference in the USA. Seems like I have thoughts that it is only used in europe or something. Anyone have comments??

Thanks

It has more to do with PRI lines. With FAXA set an ISDN call is generated with 3.1 KHz Bearer Capability. Set this on any TN that is a modem or a FAX machine.

It also has some implications on TRO calls (tromboning)

On the Option 11's I have seen that were upgraded to CS1000E's, this made a huge difference on fax machines. There were faxing issues until I changed the TN's to FAXA.

If you have a release 25.xx system, Count your Analogue TN's under SLT, then change one 500 set to CLS = FAXA. Check your TN's again.

Nortel rectified this issue in release 3!. It caused me a few problems when I got involved in upgrades.

good tip.. we timed a 6 page fax from answer tone to complete... faxa saved about 20 percent fax time inbound and 30 outbound. if thaat helps.. make the change and test it. some of our older faxes stop answering internal. (which makes no sense)
