Exception EDBEngine Error in Module OFFICE.EXE at 0008:124A
Multiple .NET files in use.
File:J:\OFFICE\DATA\TITAN\PDOXUSRS.LCK
File:J:\OFFICE\DATA\TITAN\PARADOX.LCK
{J is the mapped network directory)

I know that these LCK files are probably kept here because someone's PC crashed, and deleting them is what I do now.

Is there anything else I could do? This error message keeps on coming up more often lately.

Troy,

Multiple .NET files in use means you've got two BDE clients, each pointing to different locations for the PDOXUSRS.NET traffic copy file. All BDE clients must point to the the same net file or locking can't work.

If you're using Microsoft's Paradox ODBC driver (*sigh*), then you'll need to, create a new ODBC data source and check the settings of the Advanced button. There's a Select Network Directory button that you'll need to use so you can point the ODBC connection to the same NET FILE directory that your local copy of BDE is using.

If you are using Microsoft's Paradox drive, I strongly urge you to consider getting a copy of Paradox 9, which ships with Intersolv's Paradox 9 driver. It supports level 7 tables and does a better job than MS's variation.

Hope this helps...

Hey footpad. Thanks for the reply. I should have let you know, but Paradox 5 is the version we are using, and I dont think we are planning to upgrade.

I am not using an ODBC driver. The setting for the users to connect to the net file is specified within the IDAPI configuration. The FDL file is on the network, and several people access it at one time.

So if I read your response right, you are telling me that the setup of the IDAPI config on someone's PC was setup incorrectly, and they are pointing to a different directory for the NET file?

Eagerly waiting your reply.

troyu,

Yes, that's what I'm telling you. Also, make sure your users aren't rebooting before shutting Paradox down. Smack their little fingers if you have to. :)
