When buying an LCDTV I want to use with my computer can the S-video be used or does it need to have vga 15 pin connector .

If you had a video card with S-Video output, then it would be possible to connect to an LCDTV without a VGA input. However, the quality would be noticeably worse as opposed to using a VGA connection.

My (32") LCD TV has a DVI connection. Occasionally, the kids hook it up to their PC to play games and it looks stunning!

Not tried a PC thru the S-Video connection. I actually have one of the DVD players connected through the S-Video and AFAICT, it is as good as the DVD player using the Component connector.

If the kids set up their computer during next week's half-term holiday, I'll get them to try the S-video connection to see.
