My 17" GEM and other lcd's exhibit this problem. A google of the problem points to downloading or a photoshop job to create a pure white screen saver. That's dandy except I haven't found a download that works nor do I wish to buy a copy of photoshop. So...make your own. It takes much less time to do the job than it takes to read my instructions.

Rt click on a blank spot on the desktop to bring up Properties, left click on Properties, click on the Screen Saver tab, select "Marquee" as your screen saver. Now it gets tough...click on the Settings button. Where it asks for "Background Color", choose white. Next, click on the left side of the "Text" thingy and delete all the letters. Click OK twice and ur done. Ya end up with a pure white screen saver and a clear display will be your reward within 24 hours or so.

I wonder why black or other colors don't work for this? ...or just shutting the thing off? Someone has to know...I googled thru a 12 pack without a real answer. That took a half hour of valuable beer drinkin' time.

What a neat fix. I assume white as all LEDs are lit with this choice, creating a uniform burn.

Thanks,

Yes, it is an "all guns firing" solution. Works like a champ if your lcd shows the symptoms like mine...
