I'm doing a report that compares Last year's sales totals with this year's. It's grouped by month. Right now I have a report that does that but it lists January - December for last year and then January - December for this year. What I need is to see January last year and then January this year along side it repeated for each month. How can I get the layout to look like:
Jan 2002 Jan 2003
Sales Totals Sales Totals
...
instead of:

Jan 2002
Sales Totals
Feb 2002
Sales Totals
...
I've tried doing a subreport, but so far it shows the same data for each group.

Numerous options here - you are probably grouping on the database date, with the group by month option selected, so that report still lists in date order. You could create a formula to pull out the month only e.g. Month(database.date) and group on that - each month would be grouped together regardless of year. You'll have do a text conversion on it to keep it in the correct order because Month(01/01/03) returns 1 - you need 01. Once you have your grouping correct, create formulas to break out the years e.g. if Year({database.date}) = 2003 then {database.sales}. Create a formula for each year, and add these to your details section. Then summarize these by month (your new group) and hide the detail. To make your report useable next year and the year after you may want to base your formulas on the current date e.g. for 2003 sales, make a formula; if Year({database.date}) = Year(CurrentDate) then {database.sales}. For the prior year it would be; if Year({database.date}) = Year(CurrentDate) -1 then {database.sales} and so on. Hope this is as clear as mud?!?

Thank you very much. I like your ideas.
