hey

i am allright at adobe photoshop 7 and html so i can create a web page but i just can't think of a good layout or design? so i guess its sought of my head that's the problem? can anyone give me some tips of how to think of ideas?

thanks in advance
ciao

Me too - so I trawl the web looking at pages and find certain ideas and styles that maybe can be adapted. Then I 'save as' and see how it was designed and layed out.
Not very creative at first but after a while you get good at making up various styles with HTML, Photoshop and flash etc.

thanx

and i was wondering is 3D Studio Max a good idea to get to help with my website?

3D Studio Max is a great program - but it has nothing to do with web design. It's used to make 3 dimensional models and animate them.

Coming up with concepts and layouts is almost always a time-consuming (and sometimes frustrating) process. It helps if you have a specific project to work on. If you don't have something that you are doing for a client, do something for yourself - make a portfolio site or take a website that you found online that you think needs improving and improve it. Or just redesign it. Fabricate a company, make a logo, come up with a needs analysis, or the purpose for putting that company online and dive in.

You know, sometimes the best place to start isn't on a computer at all - it's with a sketchbook & a pencil.

good luck!

Depends to a degree on what content you have!
best thing is to surf the net and see how other sites do it.
Best thing is just to play with layouts. Try different things, 2 column, 3 column, 3 column with header and footer. left side navigation, right side, top and left side etc etc.
I had a lot of difficulty with one particular site over the past few months. I finally solved it last week by opening MS Paint (crap) and drawing out layout designs. I took screen shots of different content I wanted there and just pasted them into different positons. Its fast and you can immediatly change layouts by shifting things around.

Todays my first TT birthday!! Wuhuu!!
