here's the url I'm referring to here:
skyflowergallery.com

The main layer is actually set at z-index: 1 and the navigation bar (top, right) is at z-index: 2. But the main layer has a Flash animation in it, which I guess layers right on top of everything. How do I get the Flash layer behind the navigation bar? (short of incorporating the navigation into the Flash, which just wouldn't be good for my purposes)

Why not reduce your flash file a bit... make the animation of just the bird and put that on top of a div with the background. Then use the wmode set to transparent so the background shows through the flash animation. Do a search for "flash z-index" or "flash wmode" for some more details.

ah! I didn't know you could make the flash window transparent! much better. thanks.
