Hi,

I use Photoshop 7 and everything works fine except for when I try to open anything in the 'layer style' like 'blending options', 'gradient overlay', 'stroke', etc. It takes about 45 seconds for the layer style window to open and while I wait, photoshop seems to freeze (I can still move the cursor around, just can't click anything in the program). It just takes really long for the window to open!

Does anyone know what causes this annoying delay before opening? Is there a conflicting program? I have read about others having the same problems in ps 6. Any advice you can give about possible reasons would be terrific!

Thanks!

What type of computer are you using: processor speed, memory, hard disk space, and operating system. Your problem is probably due to a minimal amount of memory which will slow things down considerably.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Hi,

I'm using a 1GHz Intel processor, 256MB RAM, 40GB, WinME. Photoshop works fine and dandy and doesn't operate slow whatsoever, except for when I open the layer style window. It just takes a long time for that one window to open which can be a real pain when I'm trying to work on something! ;)

So what would affect the opening of one window and nothing else?

Thanks!

Well, you're right on the edge of the minimum memory requirements and an increase to 512mb would go al ong way in solving your problems. But you can try uninstalling Photoshop and then reinstalling it. Be sure to empty the recycle bin and defrag your hard disk B4 reinstalling.
