hi,

can someone tell me if SMTP or ICMP are part of transport layer?

thanks

icmp IS layer 3 network
SMTP is layer 1 application (i think this is the cisco answer)

thanks for replying.

here is my followup question,
since SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transport Protocol with key word "Transport", does that sort of belongs with FTP and Telnet as layer 4? or am i getting confused with SNMP?

SMTP == Simple Mail Transfer Protocol

please review your OIS layers before posting thanks

oops...hehe thanks for the correction.
