Hi, I'm wondering if the 2960 is considered a layer 3 switch, and if it can be used instead of the 3550 in a ccnp lab environment.

Do switch spf ports only connect to other switch spf ports or can they be connected to routers too?

MY current lab consists of...

1. 2621
2. 2611
3. 2610
4. 2950

My upgrade plan for ccnp so far...

5. 2950
6. 2950
7. debating on which 24 port layer 3 switch to get.
8. 2620

And another question...
Will wic-2t work in 2801 router or will only hwic cards work?

Thanks everyone, please reply soon, tomorrow is the day I tell step-mom what to get.

2960 I believe is layer2 only , it is just a slight upgrade from the 2950 series . Your best bet it to stay with a 3550 if you need layer2/3 support , I doubt you want to pay for a 3750 or a 4948 box if it is just for a lab ...

thanks for suupppper fast reply!!! I guess ill be gettin 3560 24 port with 2 sfp then.

If i could find a great deal on 3750 i would!!!
