Does anyone know how to launch a telnet session to a specified host using a hyperlink? I am building an environment for an intranet that includes an image map of a building. The user can click on wiring closets on the floor plan and then select a specific switch to get information about. I want to be able to launch a telnet session so that techs can get into the switches without having to have access to old and out of date documentation about which switches are what.

I don't know about telnet, but if it is a .exe file or some other extension that a browser will not recognize, you can point a link to it, for example: C:\programs/telnet.exe

This working only if all telephone techs keep the program loaded in the same place on there laptop.

There should be other ways, if you carry the software on the server and they can all login in to it then this becomes very easy. Unless I am missing the 'telnet' part this should help you out.

Good Luck!

it is possible to pass the login and password along with the link, but this is probably not a good idea. Dean Owen
