Launching takes lot of time

Hi

I have made an msi with wise for windows installer 4.2. The size of msi is 466Mb.It takes long time to start the installation. Is there any way to reduce this time.

Maybe delete the package id file in the C:\WINDOWS\ms\sms\clicomp\apa\Data\Complete folder. I also found updating your site in the Control Panel makes the application distribute quicker.

I could not find the folder under windows directory, you have mentioned.

Try and seperate the msi database from the Cab files.
In Wise look at media, and use the option to leave cabs outside the msi.

When you have an msi of 420 MB, your OS has to read through it all to find the database it needs.

Sorry I took long time to test this. I used the option you suggested and its reduced from 1 min 50 sec to 1 min.

Is it not possible to reduce it anymore?

If youre using Wise, you can use the debugger and see all the actions called before your setups dialogs apears.

See if any of them are taking too much time.
