launching internet explorer and having multiple web pages open

When launching internet explorer 6 at any given time browsing to other websites it will start opening multiple pages and the only way to stop it is to use task manager. I cannot find any articles anywhere and the only thing microsoft is aware of is something with weatherbug which is not installed on this machine.

Any help would be appreciated!

I recommend that you start by running Spybot Search and Destroy
