Does anyone have a scrit that will launch a simple executable?

If I wanted to lanuch notepad, for example, what script would I need?

Any help is appreciated!

just make a link that says:

<a href=&quot;file:///C:/windows/notepad.exe&quot;>Start Notepad</a>

it asks the user about saving/running the program...
give it a try.

Thanks for the help, schontz! Now my next question, is there a way to get around asking the user about saving or running? The reason I am asking is, this website is just used internally, and all users have the program installed on their systems.

Any help is appreciated!

Oh, I forgot to ask - Can this be used within a script?

Hi wood, I had a similar question, I have still not sucessfully sorted it out but my thread in HTML/DHTML might help you also. Look for Active Desktop Opening Programs posted by myself. At the time of posting this, it was on page 4

Thanks for all your help. I have cured my problem!

wood,

How did you solve the problem?

If everything seems to be going well: you don't have enough information.......

Sorry to bring this thread back up... but it was lost down there on page 7 or 8, and I'd really like to know how Wood apparently solved his problem!
The question really is... can the <save/open> + the security warning box be avoided when launching an .exe such as Notepad.exe for example?

Appreciate any answers, even if they're negative!

;-)
