Launch **.xls in Excel from IE

Hey All,

I have a link on my intranet that points to an .xls and I want it to open in Excel and NOT in the browser. I think I remember doing something similar with a switch of sorts.. not sure. This is a shared workbook that muntiple users need to be able to make and save entries in. Thanks for you help..

That's a machine setting, not a file setting.

Thanks for the info. However, I'd like the link to open the original file rather than download it. This is because it is a shared workbook that multiple users need to be able to modify. Is there a way to use the link to open the the document itself and not create duplicate copies?

AFAIK, shared workbooks should be shared on networks, not intranets.
