Hello,
How can I start httpd and named at boot.
Currenty I enter httpd at prompt then
cd /etc/rc.d/init.d/ then >named

thanks

Hi,

My preferred way is like this (as root) :

/sbin/chkconfig --level 2345 httpd on
/sbin/chkconfig --level 2345 named on

This creates the symlinks for you to start at levels 2 thru 5 and to stop at other levels. Actually you probably only want levels 3 (console multi-user) amd 5 (X multi-user). To check all your sysv init services & xinted settings :

/sbin/chkconfig --list

(You can also use ntsysv and tksysv if you prefer to set the run-levels0

Rgds

Thanks ifincham,

btw- I finally have my dns and webserver running. Seems that the problem was with my isp all along. I don't fully understand what the problem was, all they told me was that there was a problem with there cache server. Oh'well they are going to compensate me with a free month anyway and everthing is running fine.
My next challenge is setting up my slave box ns2.
So off I go.
