Is there any way I can launch my Apache webserver on my machine and launch page in my browser at the same time?

Also, is there a way I can shutdown apache from my browser?

All of this will be running on my local machine - it does not get out to the internet, so there are no security issues in that respect.

If your apache webserver is running on a unix platform and your apache contains php then you can write a shell script and execute that script from a php script to shut down and restart apache. You wouldn't be able do anything while apache was shut down since you need apache up to run the php scripts.

It's a windows system, and I'm using perl, but like you said, I can't run it without having apache running. P.S. Active Perl is not an option here as I would be unable to set it up on everyone else's system. I am making this server available so certain scripts I have made can be used on their system.
