I want to be able to open up a specific file in access after clicking a cmdbutton. Can you do it using unc as network drives may be mapped differently.

cheers Tim

Yes, You can (and should) always code using //SERVER

my next question then would be .........how??

Use this connection string

Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}
;Dbq=\\SERVERNAME\FolderShare\MyData.mdb;Uid=Admin;Pwd=;

Using ADO;
Use this connection string

Dim cnConnection as ADODB.Connection

Set cnConnection = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

cnConnection.OPen "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}
;Dbq=\\SERVERNAME\FolderShare\MyData.mdb;Uid=Admin;Pwd=;"

I don't seem to get any response from this. no errors and nothing loaded??

What I actually want is to launch Access or any other application, ie word etc!?!?
