Latest date of Hire - Hire or Rehire?

I need to add a column to my columnar report that shows an employees' latest date of hire. If they only have a hire date and no rehire date, the hire date should be in that field. If they have a rehire date and a hire date the most recent date should appear in the field.

Right now I have both columns of dates but I only want to show one. Any ideas?

I am using the PS_EMPLOYMENT table. I m ahosted so RS is running on an Oracle platform.
