This is kind of bizarre because on my coworkers computer in our office the same exact file prints exactly right to the same printer. On my computer, and my supervisors computer, the PM 7 file drops the last page - if it's page 4 we only get three pages, if we add a new page at the end of the file then we can get page 4 to print and the new page doesn't print. It's driving us nuts!

We all print to a Sharp ARM-700U. Our 3 computers are identical Gateway Profiles. We have checked all the settings for the printer and within the PM document on the three computers to see if there was anything out of whack, and can not find anything different between us.

Any thoughts or suggestions or ideas??? I'm at my wits end on what to look at to fix this!

Thanks,
Cindy

Have you checked the "Compose to printer" setting for the publication?
Open the PM Publication and click to File -> Document Setup. Make sure your Sharp AR-M700U is the "Compose to printer."

Also, check you have the correct PPD installed in PM's PPD folder if you're printing in PS Mode.

As a work around, create a PDF from the PM file and print that.

BigJohnD,

None of us have the ARM as our 'compose to' printer since we might print these files to any one of five different printers and it changes the formatting. Because one of the three of us doesn't have a problem, I can't see that the 'compose to' setting is the issue. Plus, I have made a copy of one document to mess with and with that one I did change the 'compose to' printer to the ARM and it still printed with the dropped page.

As for the PPD files, we all have exactly the same files in the correct PM PPD folder. That was one of the first things I checked.

While creating PDFs works for final printing, it can be a real pain during the editing process where we might be in and out of a file five or six times in an hour. We need the direct printing function to work properly.

Thanks though,
C

That was my point.

Then it could be a network issue specific to the 2 PCs.

BigJohnD,

Thanks for the link, I've already gone over that particular page numerous times. I've also posted the same exact question on the Pagemaker forum on the Adobe site.

It's a puzzle. We haven't been able to identify anything at all different at any level between the one computer that works and the two that don't. Though writing that statement gives me the idea to try logging in on the other machine and see if it's the login or the PC...

Thanks,
C

There is printing issue related to having the incorrect or changing the "Compose to:" printer, whereby the page count changes.

Check this FAQ in the PM Win Section of AdobeForums:

Yes, I seen it.

I expect any replies you get will not be too dissimilar from mine.

You could try thoroughly removing the local printer driver, re-booting and re-installing, though I realise this is not always very easy with network ports.

I know PM is old and easy to blame, but in general, printing is windows function, not a PM one. There for the place to look is the printer driver.

BigJohnD,

Thanks. I'll keep looking for differences...
