Not to be a smart@ss, but this FAQ will help you tailor your questions to get specific answers that will actually help.
Now, if you can rephrase the question so that we on the other end of your computer can have a better idea of what exactly you are trying to accomplish, how you are trying now, what version of PS, what OS, and anything else that might be helpful, I am sure you will get a satisfactory answer.
I've got a feeling that mazdarx wants to create a selection around a car for the purpose of recolouring it (call me a mind reader) and is looking how to do that.
mazdarx, I did give you a suggestion in the very first reply that you haven't even responded to. Using the Magnetic Lasso. Did you try it?
If you want to create a selection around an object that has a highly contrasting background, that tool may work for you.
A photo of a car in a parking lot with a complex background (for example) is a different thing all together. Short answer is NO, there is no automatic way to do it. You will have to create a selection using either Lasso's, the quick mask, the Pen tools, whatever you are most comfortable with (or even just erase the background with the eraser tool). For a car, I would use the pen tool myself and convert the resulting path to a selection.
