Does anyone know how to connect an Apple Laserwriter IIg and an HP JetDirect 300x? They both have rs-232 (25 pin Dsub) connectors on the back, but they don't talk to each other. Apple says to swap pins 2 & 3, RxD & TxD, but that did not help. From what I've gathered, I think the laserwriter is set up to connect to the serial port on a PC, not the parallel port.

Paul

If apple is saying to swap rx and tx connections and it is rs232 you most likely will have to look at doing some thing with the control lines . clear to send , data set ready and some other control line I cannot remember . in australia the dick smith electronics catalogue had how to wire up a Null Modem cable . If you can find somewhere how to wire up a null modem cable you will be on the right track .
Check out this link <A HREF=" TARGET="_new">
