I have seen this issue before. Seems like the toner cartridges made for this printer series are very unstable. I would recommend exchanging the cartridge and drum for both yellow and magenta.

I have also seen that the page can get a full background haze (especially in yellow). If this happens there is problems with the printers formatter card and the cartridge/drum.

Also check how many % there is left on the image cleaning kit..

I have had this problem off and on for the last 4 months. The definitive answer is... HP has been selling bad batches of toner cartridges, specifically magenta and yellow. It is actually the toner powder itself, and when you get a bad one, it also contaminates the drum, so both have to be replaced. Call HP and tell them, and they will send you a new set. The reason there hasn't been a total recall of these, is that this problem with the toner doesn't affect all printers, just the 9500s and maybe a few others. So, there is no big push from HP to do anything about it, other than to just wait for customers like you and me to run into problems, then have to call and go through all this to get new ones. I kind of have issues with HP over this, and quite frankly a few others. One word of advise... find someone in your industry who knows something about your printer, and get advice from them, cause HP really doesn't know the finer details of their own product! How do I know this? I called with another problem related to color inaccuracy, and the guy on the phone to me to purchase the photoret 4800 for my printer. Well, if the idiot knew any better, he would have known that this device was included in my printer when it was built. What a dope! And that's not all... but these are just a few. So just take care of your own needs, using a valuable resource near you, like a full color printer or a local, privately owned copy shop.
