Hi,

Does anyone out there know, if it is possible on a Laserjet 5n. When one tray is empty (tray 2) for example, to stop the printer from taking paper from other trays.

I know this is possible on a 4000 series, by setting the paper type per tray. But this option is not avaiable on the 5n.

I have set the Auto Cont=off on the printer, but this has not given me the desired result.

Off stopping printing if one tray is empty.

TIA,

Paul

If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!

I still have a number of series 5 printers. I do not think there is a way of stopping it taking it fron the next available tray, other than pull one out when print particular jobs.

Never give up never give in.

There are no short cuts to anything worth doing :)

It can be done. It's all in the configuration. Worst case, lie to the printer and tell it there's letterhead in the tray. It won't pull and automatically print on "special" paper. ;)

Thanks, for all your responses.

I had to resort to "RTM". And as usual its in there. :)

Setting the paper types per tray is very different to the 4000 series. But all working now.

Cheers,

Paul

I keep telling my printer it's an ATM, but it still refuses to give me money.

No it just want to take money. Well the people who service it do.
